So in total random-ness (yes I believe I made that word up..) here are some totally random thoughts that some may find either completely silly, out of left field or possibly thought provoking. (seriously if anything I say is thought provoking by all means... let me know!)
It's sad (in my world) when the highlight of my morning is to see who the "famous" person or guest is on Sesame Street. And I usually am more interested in the musical guests...
I have friends making comments about being old because they are parents of teens (or soon to be). Yet I feel old because Jr goes to preschool just a mere 2 yes TWO days a week! I can't believe honestly that he really is old enough for such things. Time passes oh so quickly...
I have friends I wish I had more time for. More time to call, More time to write them emails or just sit down and write them a good old fashion letter or even write in a silly card to say "Hey, your important to me!" and I realize that I allow the kids to be my excuse to not do these things... really should change that...
No matter how much crap there is going on in my (our) lives the only things that really matter are the ones sitting at (or around) the dinner table every night. Enjoying the time we have, learning and growing should be the most important things. sigh
I think I am going to regret (on some level) putting Jr in speech. I might actually understand what he's crying/whining/saying and wish for when I couldn't understand such things. Scratch that. Perhaps it will head off some of the whining because he won't get so frustrated because I don't understand him.
Every mom feels like the worst parent ever, at some point. I can't be the only one. If I am.. let me know. I seem to be on a "mommy fail" roll right now...
Anyone who said that toddlers are easy was smoking crack because they quite honestly have not met my two year old or any of his counterparts...don't believe, read any of the facebook statuses of my friends.. I love them all (and so do their mothers) but I'm sure all my friends would agree...
Just because I don't share the same views as some Left or Right Wing extremist does not mean that my opinion, as small as it may be, doesn't count. I vote so therefore it does. Or so the constitution tells me it does.
All of Elmo's World songs are to the tune of "Jingle Bells". and I find it quite annoying.
I'm finding as a mother of two I'm having a hard time figuring out who "I" am in this role. I sure hope it doesn't take me 18 years to figure it out!

Where oh Where Did a Year go?
This time last year, I was laying in a hospital bed barely able to move my legs after my cesarean section and was hotter then all get out. BUT. I had a brand new baby
who was most likely laying in my arms or close by in his bassinet and a worn out wonderful husband who was sacked out on the pull out couch in our room. We became a family a year ago today.
And while our family may be on opposite ends of the continent tonight we are still ever so grateful to have each other in our lives. Chris and I are very grateful
for the little boy in our lives and we can't wait to celebrate his life with our friends and family this coming Saturday (as well as his Daddy's homecoming!!!!)
It's amazing how fast this year has gone by!! He has grown by leaps and bounds and started walking just a week ago! (Oh how I wish he had waited for his Daddy to be here for his first steps!) Watching his personality develop has been interesting, and a ride of it's own at times. Who knew such a little person could be such a force in one's life.
Don't grow up too quickly Christopher Junior! We want to savor each and every little moment.

Hopes, Dreams and other Crazy Things
Yesterday watching my son get into things that I rather wish he wouldn't (you know like playing with all things off limits- like the toliet - instead of his ever growing and overflowing toy box) I realized that I can see him as a young little boy. He IS a young little boy you say - but the young little boy I see is maybe 3 or 4, old enough to ask embarasing questions and not be able to fully understand why he has to wait till he's "older" to have them answered. That kind of young. Like "where do babies come from?" kind of question young where we hope that the answer "From Mommy's tummy" will sufice.
I see a little boy who barrels into a room demanding to have a blanket/towel/sheet tied to his neck in "Super Man" fashion and then disappears from the room, only to reappear wearing a colander on his head, chasing the dogs and yelling "CHARGE!!" and carrying some sort of a sword. My mother and my mother-in-law both tell me these are and will be normal little boy behaviors. A part of me can't wait to see it. That is a very small part of me. In almost a month my baby will no longer be a baby but a full fledged toddler.
In a way, these past almost eleven months seem like a dream. A dream because they have gone by so fast and because Chris hasn't gotten to see it all up front and personal. I realized as I was writting this, that if there was a part of Junior's life I would choose to have Chris miss, sadly this part seems to be the part. Not because I have gotten to have all the "baby" stuff to myself but because I see this ride called parenthood entering a new stage, a very fun stage that is perfect for daddies as little guys curiousity goes and personalities are developing. One where the interaction between father and son will set the tone of their relationship if not the foundation of it for the rest of their lives. Every boy needs a man who is willing to be Dad when they need it, and Daddy when they need him as his best friend and playmate the rest of the time. I am looking forward to watching this relationship develop and grow. :)

Home and Gone - all in one!
Going Home
Have you ever gone back to your hometown for a visit (or in my case – moved back temporarily) and found that you cannot go anywhere with out running into someone you think you know, or someone who thinks they know you? It seems to be that the past couple have weeks have been non-stop with this. I have run into the consummate female athlete from my graduating class, people who went to school with my brothers, people who knew my husband but not me, and everything in between it seems. It is weird and a little awkward. Some I wasn’t really good friends with in high school, some have been classmate’s parents and we all know that half the time talking to someone else’s parent in high school was awkward enough, this is well, the same if not more so.
I am not saying any of this is a bad thing it is just weird. I have also found that I am still, after being back here almost three and a half months now, that I still wonder who I am going to recognize or who is going to recognize me. On the other side of the weirdness it is nice to see that some people have changed (for the better) and that somewhere not the people you thought they where.
A Day of Outings
Today we were running all day! We met up with Ms. Jenni to see the Easter Bunny with Miss Krista (pictures later this week) and to have lunch with these two wonderful women! (I think Jr has a girlfriend here already in Krista! She was sure giving him some serious smooches when we left Chick-fil-a!) No need to worry about this little guy being afraid of the Easter Bunny, nope not at all! He was fabulous the whole time! We even used his happiness on the Easter Bunny’s lap to try to coax a couple other little girls (Krista included) onto the Bunny’s lap. No dice for the most part (I knew the Easter Bunny – so that made things a little easier for us ;) ) I cannot wait for next year when Daddy will get to go with us.
After the Easter Bunny and lunch with the girls, Jr and I did a little shopping at Marshals, a return to Best Buy then to Wal-Mart and Sam’s. We left the house at 930ish this morning and did not get home until a little after 3pm! It’s now a quarter after ten, the little man is asleep and I have homemade spinach dip in a half-made state (the spinach is cooling off) and have picked up to try and help get things ready for the party tomorrow. Two more days until I am a year off from “middle age”! (That makes me feel and sound sooo old!!!) One more sleeps until my party! If you are “in the know” on how to get to the Ranch and you are in the area party starts around 2pm. If you would like to drop in – drop me a line, text me or an old-fashioned phone call and I will give you directions!

Life on the ranch is definitely what I needed during this deployment. Aside from school work to keep me busy but things on the ranch are a distraction that I needed. I realized that the rough day I was having yesterday was not because Jr was having a rough day it was because I was having a rough day dealing with everything. The deployment, school, Jr all of the above where just wearing on me.
Today I realized that doing mundane things like chores has been helpful. Especially when it comes to feeding cows and getting some physical exertion out. Pushing bales of hay off a haystack while trying to avoid taking out fencing ment to keep calves out is more physically trying then it looked. (Normally my mother in law climbs up and knocks them down and Jr and I collect the wires as she spreads the bales out for the cows.) Pushing bales around with out wearing Jr (which is the norm for us when we "help" with chores) was not only a good work out but a great way for me to get some frustrations out. This deployment is rougher because I see all the things that Chris is missing while he's gone, despite realizing that it's part of his job and this should be the last deployment for a couple years and despite the fact I'm trying to document in any way I can everything that Jr learns while he's gone.
I also get to hear (on a semi-regular basis) that Chris and I have it "sooo easy". When Chris' dad was in the Navy and stationed at Diego or Guam he got one phone call a month and it cost him a hundred dollars. The internet is a blessing and a curse. It's easier to stay in touch but at the same time, constant contact can also make it more difficult. Its a matter of finding a balance, and figuring out how to take care of everything I need to but figure out how to ask for help and/or accept help when I need it. Thankfully I have awesome in-laws and family who are helping out tremendously.

Rush...
Ever feel like your in a rush? Thoughts flow and ebb, mostly rushing past in steady flow that doesn't slow down long enough to really take it in.
I have had so many things I've wanted to blog about the past couple of days but my ideas flow so fast that they are gone quicker then I have the opportunity to sit down and put my ideas into words on a screen. It's amazing how quick things come and then they go. Is this a part of being a mom? Or just a worn out momma who's baby still gets up several times at night? Either way - it's not something I'm used to.
