I am working on updating things around here... Hopefully in the next couple of days I will have new pictures, updates on life and the visitors we have had over the past couple of months as well as updates on the kids. :)
In my spare time (ha ha!) I also want to rearrange the look of this space... so pardon the mess please :)

Remembering

Today is a day of Remembrance.
All of us know or atleast have some idea of where we where 8 years ago today. I was working for a national cell phone carrier and spent the day trying to assist with frantic phone calls from people both in and outside the buildings and even that area, all while watching the news in disbelief. The first tower was hit while I was getting ready for work.
After taking Chris to work today, Junior and I went to the Commissary on the base. While walking in, the National Anthem was played and the colors where raised for the day. If your not in the military you may not know that when this happens, everyone is supposed to stop what you are doing, and stand at attention and face the direction the music is playing. I wish I had my camera. Today it's dark and dreary in South Texas. Watching the flag being raised against a break in the clouds with the sun shining was very moving. Looking at the innocence in my sons eyes as he looked around and could see other people standing still like his mommy and trying to figure it all out made me realize that while there are aspects of this lifestyle that I don't paticularly care for, days like today make it all worth it.
The sight of the flag being raised against the dark and dreary yet bright sky was a clear reminder of what we lost 8 years ago today. It was also a reminder that while we can not forget those who have gone before, we must live for the living and go forward with our lives and what we do on a daily basis so those who have gone before us did not do so in vane.
My simple request for you today is to hug the ones you love, call the ones you can't physically hug and tell them how much you love them. Tomorrow may not come, so do all you can today.

Announcing A New Family Member!!!

*no it's not mine*
CONGRATULATIONS SARAH & JASON!!!
I'm going to be an auntie!!! My niece or nephew (I'm secretly hoping for a niece - but Jr will be happy with either!!!) is due to make his/her arrival at the end of May. I couldn't be more excited for my best friend, we've gotten to do most things together in and since high school so I am glad that our kids will be friends and close together in age.
Although the new addition to the family is an unexpected surprise, I know that this could couldn't have been luckier in who he/she is getting for parents. I know that you both will be awesome parents. I can't wait for, in the years to come, the family get togethers we know will happen (more often then every like 4-5 years) and both of our families grow!

Pleasantly Chaotic
Yep. That's our new name.
While my previous name was applicable to what was going on at the time (and periodically now) it was time for a change. New name, layout (while similar is different) and new colors.
I needed something that was going to appropriately cover my feelings of this new road that I am on. Attempting to navigate through the waters of being a mother, a wife and the ever struggling student while trying not to screw it all up. Thank You Lizze for helping me figure out which direction to go in with the new-ness!
Coming soon... a give away! My very first! (we'll see how many people will actually comment when they stop by then!!)

Hurricane Ike.. and Our Game Plan - So Far
Hurricane Ike is projected to hit just north of here.
For Family & Friends that are worried about us... here is our game plan:
Pre-evacuation:
I'm packing up our clothes and things that have to go with us *per me* today, and making sure that things are in order for when we do evacuate.
Once we get the notice:
We will be heading to Northern Louisiana, to stay with Chris' Aunt Claire & Uncle Bill. We will be taking the 4 legged boys. (they are one of the main reasons we are evacuating that far). At this time, Jess, Ronnie and their boys (1 of which is also 4 legged) will be either joining us for the caravan or meeting us there as they are driving back from FL. (long story don't ask).
From there it depends on where Ike makes landfall and how much damage there is. We may be home as soon as this weekend or not.
We will have internet access while we are out of town, however I am not sure how much I will update here. I will be able to check email.... and if you don't have my cellphone # please email me for it (family and friends only!!)
Family only:
If for some reason we are out of contact - my Jane will be our most likely source of connection with the family. So if you can not reach us for what ever reason and need to do so, please get ahold of Jane!

News Flash!
I figured, most know about this now but I haven't made it "official" here yet.
In December, "What the heck was I thinking" will be moving!! :D Okay well not off Blogspot, but the author is moving! :) Chris is being deployed agian in January so we are going to use his Christmas leave to get the house packed up and put into storage, and Junior and I are moving to The Ranch!
The Ranch, for those who aren't "in the know", is Chris' family home in California. It's where my husband's family has lived since the 1800's. The original house is still there - and liveable! (albiet, it's had some modernization done to it on the inside as times have changed, but the original structure is still there). I'm really looking forward to going home, as The Ranch is located just outside of the town that I more or less grew up in too. Chris and I went to the same Jr high & Highschool. It will be nice to give my son a "connection" to a place that means soo much to everyone in his Daddy's family.
Moving home will serve many purposes, but the main two are pretty simple. I want Jr to get to know his family, and I think those connections start at a young age. (and this will be the one, if not one of the FEW times that I will be able to move home for this long of a period of time). The second is I won't have to put him in Daycare (or as much) as I would have if I stayed here and continued going to school. So, starting around/after Christmas expect to see pictures of the Ranch and our trip home!

People Like This Make Me Sick!
First, there was the likes of Scott Peterson. Now there is this Moron.
The thought that these men can kill a pregnant woman is beyond upsetting to me. It's even more upsetting to me now. Maria Lauterbach, Laci Peterson and their unborn children DID NOT deserve what they went through. And now the fact that Lauren was found in Mexico, to ensure justice for his victim's families, the government has to agree not to pursue the death penalty. That's crap!
