The Toddler Wars: Battle number one

My independant little boy proved he may be independant but not quite as "big" of a "big boy" as I thought he was.

Naptime yesterday was a roaring disaster. Actually it ended with me being more frustrated with my son then I ever have been in his short life. I put him down for a nap, closed his door and went about what I had planned (important things like a shower). He stopped crying after 3 minutes, so I thought this was going well. I put batteries in the other baby monitor so that I could take it in the bathroom to hear him while I showered. He was playing happily, so I let him. I figured even if he didn't nap he would be spending his normal nap time in his room playing and he would atleast stay in the routine. By the end of an hour and a half, I heard a very large crash. (perhaps it was my paranoia, but it sounded huge to me).

I found my son underneath a leaning dresser (thank goodness the crib was next to it!) and he looked up at me with a totally confused look on his face. Best guess is he attempted to scale the empty dresser. (It was an extra one we just stuck in there for the time being.) I also got the first look at his room. I should have taken a picture. It literally looked like his changing table, his toy box and his dresser had thrown up. No wonder he was so quite. :-/.

After cleaning up his room then making him lunch I realized this was a fight I am just not ready for. I was going to wait for Chris to get home to put the crib rail back on, but lunch time proved to be an opportune time to do it myself. Lets just say that his lunch of chicken chunks and bananna ended up on the floor and ketchup was EVERYWHERE. Add that to the frustration of having to clean his room, I was pretty much steaming. I reinstalled his crib rail, and changed his clothes and he went to bed. He ended up taking an almost 3 hour nap.

I guess in this war of growing up and changes the score after this battle is: Junior:1 Mommy: 0

BiPolar Denial...

I'm happy I'm moving home... but I'm sad I'm moving away from friends.
I'm happy I'm moving home... but my best (and most entertaining friend) is moving in February.
I'm happy I'm moving home... but I hate packing. (Unless the movers do it - which I don't get this time)
I'm happy I'm moving home... but I don't want to pack. (and lately have found every reason NOT to)
I'm happy I'm moving home... but I'll miss my stuff.

Still Waiting...

We had a great 4th of July. We hung out with Jess and Ronnie and their family that came in to town for a week, couldn't have asked for a funnier time... especially since I found out that if you laugh so hard you cry it CAN cause contractions! (Thank you for that one Robin!)

Yesterday, we took the kids to get donuts for Arthur's Birthday - his birthday isn't officially till August first but he leaves this week to go back home, and we wanted to make sure he got a celebration with us too. And since sugar seems to be his favorite food group, I was nice and suggested we go. Well getting in the car here at the house, and I had wonderfully looooooong contraction pulling out of the drive way. It was one that I REALLY felt. Then nothing between here and the donut shop we went to (which by the way was across the street from the hospital I'm delivering at) untill I walked back to the car. Okay... so we tried to decide what to do next.... go home and sit around (and the kids along with Chris where possibly going to go tour the USS Lexington) or go to the hospital and get checked out.

I felt silly about going for only 2 contractions so we decided that since Arthur wanted to go to a movie for his birthday we would go see Wall-e. Which would be like sitting at home for me. Had a couple minor contractions during the movie, but nothing like earlier. The movie was cute, however Chris and I agree it's a huge public service announcement for global warming if your an adult. Arthur liked the movie so that was all that counted.

We came home, I showered just on the off chance we had to go in... and also to try and help the pain in my back. No dice on either count. Had minor contractions all afternoon that weren't really timeable, so about 8pm I decided to go for a walk around the block. First lap had two smaller contractions, second lap however (also a first for me - usually only go one) I had 3 good sized ones. However by the time we got back to the house I was too tired to keep walking. So I sat on the exercise ball, and they kind of faded off.

This morning, the pressure/pain in my back is still there. (Yes Lizze I know what your saying right now) And my pelvic bone still feels like it's breaking in half, but since getting up a half hour ago, I've only had 1 contraction that I actually felt. I have a Dr appt tomorrow at 925am so unless something big happens today odds are:

Stay tuned untill tomorrow.
