Visit To the Orthopedic Surgeon
I finally got to visit the Ortho Clinic here on the base today to be evaluated for Physical Therapy. The clinic was a whole lot friendlier then the family practice clinic ever is - a whole lot quicker then them too. I figured that they may not take me too seriously since I wasn't in a lot of pain when I got up there (and it's been almost a month since I had that lovely round of back spasms) but I was pleasantly surprised.
The Lieutenant that I dealt with was a really nice guy. He seemed to genuinely listen to my complaints and was surprised that I was just finally getting seen for the pain. Not only him, but everyone up at the Ortho Clinic had a good sense of humor, the Lieutenant. showed this when he said the best cure for the pain I’m experiencing would be delivery. Cute.
The Treatment Plan - for now
After an excruciating exam (it was way more painful then I thought it would be) he decided to prescribe a muscle relaxer for night time use – I told him I would probably avoid taking it as much as possible and that I would prefer the physical therapy route more. (Just like I have done with the Darvocet, from the back spasms.) He understood my feelings but suggested having them as a back up. He also talked to the Physical Therapist and found that they could do a little more then just giving me stretches, like massages and such. (whooo hooo for me!) And they will be giving me a call in the next couple days to get me all hooked up. The Dr. did say that before beginning with any of the stretches or abdominal strengthen that he wants me to run it by my OB first. That should be easy enough :) I can’t wait to actually get started!

I'm so glad you're getting some treatment - back pain is the worst - I can totally relate. I hope you get some great massage PT - that helps so much.
