Sheesh This New Mom Thing Is Rough!

Okay so now that we know we are going to have a boy I feel like I can finish my registry at Babies R Us (I will also do one at Wal-Mart or Target too most likely). But this is HARD! I would like to say that I want an instruction manual on what to register for, but I have friends who tell me I need this or that, and of course no two friends agree on anything! Why is that? Probably because just like clothes or purses, not all people are going to like the same things therefore their opinions will differ.

I know I posted about unsolicited advice a couple of weeks ago, and this post is probably sounding quite contradictory and I’m sorry about that. Perhaps I am just feeling a tad overwhelmed by this prospect of figuring out what is right for my kid and he’s not even here yet! I guess it goes along with what my OB told me on Wednesday when I asked when I would get my energy back, “In about 18 years.”

congrats on the boy!! Boys are awesome!!

As far as registering goes, it all depends on if you are going to be particular or not. Some mom's are neat freaks, need everything so so and thus more stuff, some are more laid back and don't need to have the bottle warmer (just room temp water), or wipes warmer, ect... It is all a personal decision. If you need anything let me know!

Oh, the ONE thing we couldn't live without was a swaddle blanket. They have velcro and secure the baby in nice and tight. William could wiggle out of a regular blanket. Good luck! We love you!!

I agree with Connie completely. And the swaddle blanket sounds so cool! My kiddos (4) all loved to be swaddled so this would have come in handy :) but I never got an actual "swaddle blanket" persay.... just used what I had and they seemed to stay nice and snug :) Wipe warmers are nice if you live in a climate that is cold a lot or you don't keep your house really warm... especially newborns, are really sensitive to temp. changes/ diaper changes can be really tramatic so warm wipes help to make things a little less loud in the cry dept! But, like I said before, you may not need that if you keep a generally warm house and don't live in Alaska or something! Just keep this in mind.... newborns don't "need" a whole lot.... for the first six weeks you can get by with some nice jammies, a few light blankets (especially in summer!) and most babies love a swing! So, perhaps if you are overwhelmed by all of it right now, you might feel better just saying "gift cards!!" cause then, after you meet this new little man you can go look for those "special" outfits. Another quick note.... Newborn size is really not needed, they are usually in it for about 2 weeks and then are off onto 3 months size.... three of mine never fit into Newborn size!! Hope this wasn't annoying.... just trying to help you sort things out.... and I have 4, so you may call that a little experience :P!!
