A Hodge-Podge of Thoughts

Holy Cow Batman! People Actually Read This Thing!

So I set this blog up, and let some friends and family know I have it. Yes I’ve posted some comments on some of my favorite blogs, and put the information in there giving my blog address. WHO IN THE HECK knew that someone outside of my friends and family would ACTUALLY READ my stuff! I’ll admit it… yesterday I had a momentary feeling of being special because two complete strangers read and commented on my blog! Heck my own family and friends don’t even do that!!! (hint hint!) I just wanted to give a shot out to those who actually read this! (Somehow I doubt you think I’m as funny as I do!)

Update On The Back Situation

Today we are three days post injury, and Chris is finally up walking around. Albeit he is walking like a little old man (and had several offers of people getting him a cane) but he is up and moving! He is a little less sore every day which is a good thing! And although he is a year older then me – I can’t help but tease him about getting old. Granted you also have to understand my husband is a macho man. He doesn’t do sick or injured – but when he is sick or injured he’s a big baby. And while I’m known in our family (on both sides) for being accident prone, he provides such a lack of opportunities for me to pick on him in that department that I have to take it where I can get it.

Two College Students … In The Same House AND Marriage

So if you haven’t figured out by now, in my spare time (and the loads of it that I have, seriously) I’m a college student. Currently I’m only taking two classes which was planned because A) one of my classes has a rep for being rough and B) Pregnancy and school don’t always mix – so I figured less would be more in this case. And so far it’s worked for me.

Those of you who know Chris (or of him) know that he tries to take at least two courses a semester when he can through the Navy College. All while being ready to deploy anywhere in the world on 72 hours (or less) notice with his squadron. This makes taking classes pretty rough for him. All his classes are online and he is guaranteed to have at least one two-week deployment during a semester. (we haven’t had it NOT happen yet) This semester his challenges are College Algebra and Principles of Management. Being that he was a store manager for McDonald’s for several years prior to enlisting in the Navy he has the management class down. Algebra, not so much. It’s kind of scary when my normally a math whiz husband looks at me, laughs and says, “Be glad your not taking this class, you would drown!” Lovely.

All of this also makes being married very interesting. Both of us have homework – however I have three days out of the week that I can do it while he’s at work. He has to come home from a 12 to sometimes 16 hour work day, eat dinner (which courtesy of food aversions caused by pregnancy, he usually has to cook) and then do his homework with out falling asleep. Meanwhile I’m ready to talk to him about my day – what the boys (aka the dogs) did, what I felt the baby do or how school went or how his day went and all the poor guy wants to do is relax. It’s interesting to find a balancing act, but I think we are finally finding it!
