DR! DR!

Oh, The Places We’ll go…

Last week, it was my turn to go to the Dr for back issues. Today around 12:30pm I got a phone call that I thought was going to be a lunch order from my husband. Instead, I was greeted with:

“Yeeeeessss?” (Expecting to be told what Chris wanted for lunch – it’s the only reason he calls usually in the middle of the day)

“Um, what’s going on?”

“Not much. Why?”

“Well, um, I’m headed to medical. I hurt my back again.”

“Okay….. Do you need me to come up there?”

“You can if you want. I pretty much melted when I got in the car.” – This scared me a little

“Okay, so do you want me to come up there?”

“You can if you want.” – Chris speak for yes please.

So, I changed my clothes and headed up to the floor of the hospital where his squadron’s flight surgeon is. Upon arrival I found my husband standing uncomfortably, we finally found a chair with wheels, lifted the seat to the highest point and got it to where he could sit comfortable. To get him from room to room we just wheeled him around. The corpsman that was in the office had a good sense of humor about it, and told Chris to pick up his feet and to say “Weee”.

After about a forty-five minute wait for the Dr to come back from lunch, Chris was seen. A shot in the rear was ordered, and some muscle relaxers prescribed for nighttime use only. So we just have a repeat injury (he’s done this twice before) and I’ve spent the afternoon with an invalid. Now our little family is pretty much up a creek if we need anything lifted. I am not supposed to lift anything – and now my chief muscle man is TKO when it comes to picking up the heavy stuff for me! I guess if I need anything moved, I’ll just have to wait until Jess gets here from FL on Sunday!

So how is your hubbie doing now that he's home?

I know back problems can be horrible, when you have them or when those around you do. All the best to him - and to you for patiently waiting on him hand and foot! :)

Call the neighbor down the street. The one that borrowed your lawn mower - or something. He owes a lift or two.
