There is an Alien in there!!!
Last night, I was laying on the bed, getting ready to go to sleep when Chris came upstairs and joined me. He was just reclining on the bed, teasing me about doing his management homework for him and just giving me a bad time in general. Well with the way I was laying I just happened to have my hand on the lower left side of my stomach. (This is important in just a second.) In response to my husband's teasing, I was kind of yelling (good naturedly ofcourse) at him for giving me such a bad time when all of a sudden this little round thing popped out of the side of my stomach and moved around. My guess is that it was a head, mostly because we had an unscheduled ultrasound yesterday and during the ultrasound he was head down. It was the FREAKIEST feeling EVER!
Okay Now The Scary Stuff
Since about Tuesday afternoon, I've had this kind of dull ache-y feeling in my lower stomach that I usually get right before those lovely once-a-month cramps, that as my mother in law says, makes you feel sorry for yourself. I thought maybe they would go away once I drank some extra water, and ate dinner. But Weds morning that feeling was still there. So I called the Dr's office and asked about it. (Asking Jess if that was normal was um not so helpful since she was one of the lucky one's who never experianced cramps pre-pregnancy) When the nurse called me back, she asked all kinds of questions (BTW I love my Dr's nurse! She's completely awesome at not making me feel retarted for asking questions or freaking me out more when I'm worried) and told me she would call me back after talking to the Dr.
About ten minutes later she called me back, letting me know they had set up an ultrasound for me that afternoon to check my cervix and make sure that it hadn't begun to shorten (a sign of pre-term labor) or anything, and that I was to stop by the hospital where their office is and drop off a urine sample so they could rule out a bladder infection and come in tomorrow (today) to see the Doc. I called Chris to find out if he could make the ultrasound (seeing as he hadn't been able to last week) and met him at home.
The ultrasound went fine, and for Chris it was the first time he was able to see his son since he was 10 weeks along. It was a huge change for him, but he was obviously excited. (The tech was great, and proved to him in person it was a boy.) I went to the Dr today between classes, and was told that everything from the ultrasounds (last week and yesterday's) where good. My cervical length was good so no worries there. He also preformed one of those lovely internal exams and said things felt the way they should, and he was pretty sure I didn't have an active bladder infection otherwise I would have been waaaaaaay more uncomfortable during the exam. (my lab results weren't back yet at that point and I forgot to call about them). So now we are just "hanging out" and if anything changes - it gets worse or this little turkey stops moving then I'm supposed to call. So far so good :) but it was definetly kind of scary to hear they thought I was going into labor.

Wow, that must have been scary. Don't you just hate having all the strange twinges that you don't know what they mean and then having to worry about whether to call or whether to wait it out - it's crazy isn't it!? I'm so glad the u/s showed all was well. And soooo glad your cervix is holding long and strong - yay! :) Have a super Saturday!
I'm glad everything is ok. Did the Dr. mention Braxon Hick contractions to you at all? They are "fake" contractions. I had them the last 1/2 of my pregnancy and felt similar to what you described. I wish you guys luck!
