Tests, Tests and More Tests

There are soo many tests that seem to come with being in school and being pregnant. No one warned me at all the diffrent tests that one could have thrown at them. (The pitfalls of all the information availible on the internet).

Last week, I had my sixteen week appointment with my OB. One of the things discussed was doing the AFP (alpha-fetoprotein) Test. This tests for several birth defects, but it does not tell you a definitive yes or no. It only gives you a ratio of your chances for things like Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21), Trisomy 13 & 18. Needless to say I tried very hard to not get stressed out while waiting from Wensday till today to get the results. I just got a phone call back from the Dr.'s office and they said my results are normal! HA! That's for those of you who told me I should get this test done! There was no real reason for it, because they say that untill you are over the age of 35 your risks are not signifigantly increased. I highly doubt I will do this test with our next child - unless something drastic happens.

Aside from the pregnancy test results, I had two unit tests to take for my speech class. I read the first unit and got an 84 (took the test multiple times and that was the highest score that I got) I did not read the second unit and got a 96. Now how in the heck does that work? If someone could please figure that out and call my secretary I would appreciate it.
