I recently found a blog that was posted on a message board that I frequent on ivillage written by the mom of six kids ( Because I Said So). I could not fail to see the humor (and the well-hidden frustration) that comes with having that many kids. (Moreover, she is right; I could never handle having so many kids just because of the sheer chaos – and right now I am thinking about stopping at one!)
After recently finding out that Chris and I are expecting our first child, I realized while reading the blog that my sense of sarcasm and my own witty brand of humor just might come across as being a form of entertainment to some. Let’s just hope that I do not create my own form of virtual purgatory!
The joys of pregnancy in its self are making themselves known on a daily (and nightly) basis. Now enjoying my 16th week of pregnancy, the morning sickness is pretty much gone – well unless I wait too long to eat breakfast, or any other time I get hungry. None of my pants have fit since the second week of December. From about the 8-week mark sleeping was getting harder to do. Now unless I steal Chris’ body pillow it is virtually impossible. The pillow between the knees does not help. Pillows stuffed all around me that remind me of being a kid and being tucked in “snug as a bug in a rug” does nothing for me too. My husband’s beloved body pillow is of the soft variety, and being a former stomach sleeper I have found that I can almost completely lay (comfortably) on my stomach and I sleep! Actual honest- to- goodness sleep! Yes, I know that I am not supposed to be sleeping on my stomach that is why I said almost completely. It is enough that I can fall asleep comfortably, with relatively little back pain. I am sure this will change in a week –so let’s just go with it for now!
The real joys of pregnancy right now for me are I have an appetite back. Granted I am eating a lot less then I use to, but more often! Another bonus for me is that I am starting to feel the baby move. I have been feeling this on and off for the past oh week and a half or so. At first, it was hard to tell what a gas bubble was and what the baby was. Now I can tell when the little turkey is attempting to partake in acrobatics and is rolling around (this usually happens at night right before bedtime or during dinner). Either way, I am ready for the big kicks to start… mostly so Chris will be able to feel it and stop looking at me as though I am crazy when I tell him his kid is on the move again. In addition, it will also be fun to see how the boys (aka my dogs) react to it seeing as they both feel the need to still be lap dogs even though they are 60 and 80 pounds respectively. Big spoiled babies I tell ya!

Those kicks are amazing! Just wait until the baby decides your ribs are a punching bag!
I'm so happy for you guys. Hopefully we will be right along with you soon. Lots of little cousins to play together hopefully :)
